Booming Downtown
Recently named as one of America’s best downtown’s by Forbes magazine, the urban center of Greenville has boomed since the early 2000s bringing people from all around the south and the eastern seaboard. It has become a destination for foodies and with its waterfall and park areas downtown, you can certainly spend a day full of shopping, dining and soaking up some sun by the Reedy River. There’s also Fluor Field which is an excellent ball park and home to the Drive – the Boston Red Sox single A affiliate.
Live Entertainment
The center piece of downtown Greenville’s cultural landscape, The Peace Center is a 2100 seat theater that will soon welcome performances such as The Lion King and The Bridges of Madison County along with musical acts Lyle Lovett and Seal. There is also the Bon Secours Wellness Center which will play host to Cirque Du Soleil and the Women’s SEC Basketball Championship. You can also see the Swamp Rabbits, Greenville’s minor league hockey team.
Climate Change of Pace
Be warned, if you go down to Greenville in the summertime, there will be a noticeable change in temperature when you get out of your air conditioned car. Greenville is at a much lower elevation than you are used to enjoying in the mountains of North Carolina. On the other hand, when you get tired of the snow and ice we get in January, Greenville can be a nice break from Old Man Winter.
After building new homes in Hendersonville and Flat Rock for nearly 30 years, we know what a special place this south Asheville community can be but the rise of Greenville has made it even better if you can manage the 45 minute drive. By making your home in Eagle Pointe, you will enjoy all the finer things in Flat Rock with a larger city and all its opportunities just a short trip away.
